Earth Day

April 22 has been denominated Earth Day, this happened because Sen. Gaylord Nelson saw that the climate problems happening on earth were having serious repercussions. He thought that by creating awareness the population would adopt new tendencies in order to take care of our planet.

The celebration officially started on April 22, 1970, and it was a complete success since around 22 million Americans attended and since that day, Earth Day has been celebrated throughout the world.

Earth Day is commemorated  to increase public awareness of environmental issues affecting our planet. The celebration’s purpose is to promote and find solutions to these problems in order to protect the planet’s environmental resources and share them with future generations.

The best way to celebrate is to bring consciousness about the importance of taking care of our planet, that means to start thinking on how our actions affect it and what we can do to help, many people opt for planting trees or having parade

Some things that we can practice to take care of our planet are:

  • Plant trees
  • Save water
  • Recycle
  • Sort your waste

In my opinion, Earth Day is one of the most important celebrations we can have as human beings, it helps to raise awareness about the dangers our planet is facing and how we can contribute to solve them, we should all be able to do our bit to achieve the goal of taking care of our planet, and our environment.
